ABOUT US

Welcome to our home! That is how you'll feel when you walk through our doors...from the
classic "European" look of our dining rooms with our ever-changing "art gallery" walls (showcasing some of Whittier's finest artists) to the flower-filled lush tropical paradise of our patio, it's like taking a relaxing step back into another time, another place...

"Bringing Old-Fashioned Taste to a Fast-Food Generation" is our motto and you can tell it in the
very first bite. Real food - not factory-made, purchased from a food broker then re-heated and
served to you. Delicious meals, just like your Grandma used to make - that's because it is made by a real Grandma!! Our chef is a woman of 30+ years in the catering/food business and she
knows the value of bringing to the table, fresh wholesome food to her large family and to yours.

Having been born on a ranch in South Africa to English/Dutch parents, our chef, Beryl Whiting,
was exposed to many diverse cultures and it shows in the cuisine which she serves. Her buffet,
nicknamed "Favors of the World", offers comfort food dishes from Ireland, Mexico, Italy, China,
India, Sweden, England and of course, right here in America. From her most-popular Homestyle
Meatloaf to her Curry Chicken or her delectable Chicken Wild Rice Soup, she never ceases to amaze clients with the "homemade" taste she is able to achieve in her dishes.

Calling upon her English roots, she established the Green Arbor Restaurant and Tea Room in 1996. Originally located on Greenleaf Avenue in Whittier, California (a suburb of Los Angeles)
but now located at 12320 Penn Street in Whittier. Residing next to King Richard's Antique
Center (originally built in 1903 as Whittier Citrus Associations' packing house) offers our clientele
an interesting place to come for a relaxing lunch or tea and then be off for a leisurely afternoon of shopping fun in a 3-story antique warehouse!

English and Specialty Teas are served by 24-hour advance reservation only. We offer a
male-friendly (not too many frills!) as well as a child-friendly atmosphere, we are handicapped accessible and our dress code is casual, but neat. We offer vegetarian menu choices and our Cream Teas as well as Dessert Teas are served during regular restaurant hours.

Catering options include full-service, half-service, buffet or drop-off (self-service). We offer to-go
party trays and hot dishes. A recent addition to our daily service is our popular Dinners-To-Go
- a pre-ordered dinner offered Tuesday through Friday for those time-challenged moms or
"no time to cook" foodies! Call before 11 A.M. and you can pick up your scrumptious dinner
by 5:30 P.M. the same day!

Our dining rooms are also available for evening and weekend rental (as time permits.) As our
regular operating hours are 11:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., Monday through Saturday, this leaves
plenty of free time for your business seminar, (great, high walls for your films or displays),
fund-raisers, church meetings, club meetings, fashion show or that "clandestine rendezvous!"
One special note: We LOVE to cater to Red Hat Ladies!!

We are conveniently located just off of Whittier Blvd., one mile east of the 605 Freeway, next to Whittier's new scenic Greenway Belt Walking Trail
